Very small blood clot risk after first AstraZeneca COVID-19 shot

A large study into rare blood clots linked with AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine found between just one and three cases per million, and only after the first dose, shedding fresh light on the side-effects from the shot.

If a good player has a jackpot เล่นสล็อต ฟรี broken twice a day, it's not uncommon. There are plenty of other casino games on the site that can make money for you.

Researchers have sought to analyse any link between COVID-19 vaccines and rare blood clots in the brain, arteries or veins - sometimes accompanied by low platelets, reports of which led many nations last year to pause use of the AstraZeneca shot, which was developed with Oxford University.

A study published in the PLOS Medicine journal on Tuesday (Feb 22) looked at health records of 46 million adults in England between December 2020 and March 2021 to assess the risk of clots in the month after vaccination with either the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or AstraZeneca-Oxford shot, compared with the unvaccinated.

It was carried out by William Whiteley of the University of Edinburgh and Britain's BHF Data Science Centre.

It found no risk of major arterial and venous thrombotic events in those aged 70 or over with either of the vaccines.

And while the risk of intracranial venous thrombosis (ICVT) following the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine was nearly double in those under 70, that was equal to between just one and three cases per million.

The risks of ICVT and hospitalisation with thrombocytopenia "are likely to be outweighed by the vaccines' effect in reducing COVID-19 mortality and morbidity," the study's authors said.

Philippine central bank to keep steady hand on policy lever until Q4'22

The Philippine central bank will wait until the end of the year before raising interest rates from a record low 2.0per cent to support an uneven economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, a Reuters poll found.

There are very few relevant strategies and every player สมัครสล็อตxo has the same chance of winning. You just spin the wheel.

With inflation remaining subdued compared to advanced economies and growth in the Southeast Asian nation yet to return to pre-pandemic levels, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will stick to its dovish stance.

All 21 economists in a Feb. 1-14 poll predicted the BSP would leave its benchmark rate at 2.0per cent at its Feb. 17 meeting.

That was in line with Governor Benjamin Diokno's view monetary policy would remain accommodative as long as required to underpin growth and not necessarily follow the U.S. Federal Reserve which is expected to raise rates next month.

While the Fed's last monetary policy tightening cycle led to heavy capital outflows in emerging economies leaving local currencies considerably weaker, economists do not predict a repeat this time.

"We don't expect any changes in policy from BSP, at least for now. Governor Diokno stepped up his dovish rhetoric after inflation moderated in January, indicating that he did not want to 'change course' in the middle of a recovery," wrote Robert Carnell, regional head of research for Asia-Pacific at ING.

"However, the dovish BSP stance against the backdrop of a hawkish Fed could translate into additional pressure on the Philippine peso in the near term."

The Philippine peso has been relatively stable this year, depreciating only about 1per cent against the U.S. dollar. A Reuters poll taken early last month showed the peso would hover around the current rate this year.

Four Gupta steel firms face winding up orders, say reports

Winding up petitions have been issued against four companies owned by metals tycoon Sanjeev Gupta, reports say.

Court records revealed one of the firms included Speciality Steel UK Limited, a division of Liberty Steel, which employs about 2,000 people in England.

The Financial Times reported three other firms, Liberty Pipes, Liberty Performance Steels and Liberty Merchant Bar, also had petitions against them.

The newspaper said the four companies owe HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) £26.4m.

Mr Gupta's GFG Alliance, which owns the businesses, was forced into a financial restructuring last year. This happened because its key lender, Greensill Capital, collapsed.

Since then it has been racing to shore up its finances under growing pressure from creditors and the tax authorities.

Speciality Steel UK Limited, which supplies the aerospace and oil and gas sectors, has sites in Stocksbridge and Rotherham.

A winding up petition is a form of legal action taken by a creditor against a company that owes them money. If the company is deemed to be insolvent, an official receiver will be appointed to liquidate the company.

Speciality Steel's case is not expected to take place until late March. It is unclear at what stage the petitions are against the other three companies facing legal action.

A spokesman for Mr Gupta's GFG Alliance said: "Our priority has been to protect thousands of jobs in the UK.

"We are committed to repaying all our creditors and continue to work with all stakeholders around the UK to create a sustainable future for our businesses following the collapse of Greensill Capital."

The Community, Unite and GMB unions, who represent the steel industry, said in a joint statement: "This action by HMRC threatens thousands of jobs and is a devastating blow to our members and their families. Liberty Steel is a strategically important business, crucial to delivering net zero, and under no circumstances can our plants be allowed to close."

A spokesperson for HMRC said: "We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts, working with them to find the best possible solution based on their financial circumstances."

An oil spill off the Peruvian coast earlier this month was twice as big as previously reported, according to the country's government.

Environment Minister Ruben Ramirez said Friday that almost 12,000 barrels of oil leaked into the sea on 15 January.

Officials described the spill as an "ecological disaster" to blame for the deaths of local fish and seabirds.

It happened when tanker at the La Pampilla refinery was hit by waves linked to a volcanic eruption on Tonga.

The site, about 30km (19 miles) north of Lima, is owned by Spanish oil company Repsol.

Peru has demanded compensation and prosecutors have opened an investigation into Repsol's role in the incident.

A judge granted a request on Friday to bar four executives from the firm leaving the country for 18 months amid the ongoing probe.

In a statement to the AFP news agency, Repsol said it would "fully cooperate with any criminal investigation" and said it was already aiding in the preliminary stages.

"Our main concern is cleaning up the environment. Repsol is putting all its efforts into cleaning up as quickly as possible," the company added.

Repsol said it had calculated the oil spilled to be equivalent to 10,396 barrels, after a revised government estimate that put the number at 11,900 - up from the 6,000 previously reported.

Viral videos, stoicism and stockpiling on Ukraine's uneasy borders

On one side, an estimated 100,000 Russian soldiers have now been deployed to Ukraine's border. On the other, the US along with several Nato countries have begun to send millions in military aid. But what do Ukrainians make of it all?

This week a video went viral in Ukraine, of an older man, possibly in his 50s, speaking with heartfelt stoicism that he was ready to defend his family and his country from any potential Russian invasion.

"I'll take a gun and I'll go off to fight. I'm ready to taste the earth," he told the TV crew from the Russian-speaking TV news channel, Current Time.

He went on to describe how his contingency plan is already in place and that after taking his family to their summer house he would return to the city of Kharkiv and take up arms.

Situated less than an hour's drive from the Ukrainian-Russian border, and with thousands of Russian troops currently positioned just over the border, many commentators including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have warned of the possible threat to the majority Russian-speaking city of Kharkiv.

However, despite many observers' concerns, on the streets people remain calm.

"So far I don't see any signs of panic," says 27-year-old Antonina Baranova, a university lecturer from Kharkiv. "There are no long queues in the supermarkets yet of people stockpiling food."

President Zelensky himself, a few days before sounding the alarm of imminent danger to the city, had also called for the nation to remain composed.

Some learners face 10-month wait for driving test

Some learners are waiting 10 months for a driving test while others face eight-hour round trips for theirs due a shortage of examiners and instructors.

Studying slotxo ดาวน์โหลด the winning patterns of each game before you start placing a real bet, which you might study from the game.

The shortage, coupled with the number of learners who could not have lessons or practical tests due to Covid rules or lockdowns, has left a backlog.

About 1.6 million UK learners had their tests every year before the pandemic, but that dropped to 436,000 in 2020-21.

The department responsible for driving tests is trying recruit 300 examiners.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) said it was offering learners tests on weekends and bank holidays and calling on recently retired examiners to return to help with the backlog.

But unions have warned those steps alone would not be enough to clear it.

The situation is particularly affecting people in rural parts of the UK, with one instructor saying it is "the worst I've seen it for 20 years".

'I'm stressed and nervous'
One of the learners affected is Aerona Rowlands.

Ideally, the 17-year-old student from Morfa Nefyn, on the north Wales coast, would take her £62 test at her nearest centre at Pwllheli in Gwynedd, the town where she has done most of her lessons.

But she said she could not get a test there for 10 months, so will have to travel more than two hours and almost 80 miles to Aberystwyth - before making the same trip back home after her 40-minute examination.

"It's really far and I don't know the area so taking my test is going to be more difficult than it would have been," said Aerona.

"My mum has had to book three days off work to take me there so I can get familiar with the area.

"I feel really stressed and nervous now but I think if I could do it in Pwllheli then I don't think I would be anywhere near as nervous."

Arkansas inmates sue over Covid treatment with horse dewormer

A group of inmates at a jail in the US state of Arkansas are taking legal action, saying they were unknowingly prescribed the horse deworming drug Ivermectin to treat Covid-19.

Small doses of Ivermectin are approved for use on humans, but health officials have warned against its use for Covid.

Anti-vaccine activists and conspiracy theorists have been promoting the drug as an alternative to vaccination.

The doctor who administered the drug said no inmates were forced to take it.

In a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the inmates said that after contracting Covid they were given a "cocktail of drugs" they were told contained vitamins, antibiotics and steroids.

It said they had been administered Ivermectin without prior informed consent.

The plaintiffs were named as Edrick Floreal-Wooten, Jeremiah Little, Julio Gonzales and Dayman Blackburn.

The lawsuit said they experienced problems with their vision, diarrhea and stomach cramps after taking the medication.

"No-one - including incarcerated individuals - should be deceived and subject to medical experimentation," said ACLU Arkansas legal director Gary Sullivan in a statement.

New Zealand sends flight to assess Tonga damage

New Zealand has sent a plane to Tonga to assess the damage after a huge volcanic eruption triggered a tsunami.

There are few interactive SLOTXO that will allow their members to set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits.

The eruption has covered the Pacific islands in ash, cut power and severed communications.

Up to 80,000 people there could be affected, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) told the BBC.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the tsunami had wreaked "significant damage".

No deaths have been reported so far.

Information remains scarce, however, and New Zealand and Australia are sending surveillance flights to assess the extent of the damage.

The New Zealand Defence Force tweeted that an aircraft had left to "assist in an initial impact assessment of the area and low-lying islands".

Katie Greenwood of the IFRC in Fiji said that help was urgently needed.

"We suspect there could be up to 80,000 people throughout Tonga affected by either the eruption itself or from the tsunami wave and inundation as a result of the eruption," she said.

"That was a shock to people, so we do hold some concern for those outer islands and we're very keen to hear from people."

The underwater volcano erupted on Saturday, sending a plume of ash into the sky and triggering warnings of 1.2m (4ft) waves reaching Tonga. The eruption was so loud it could be heard in New Zealand, some 2,383km (1,481 miles) from Tonga.

The work is being published as part of a European Space Agency project run by the Aberystwyth team.

Trees are considered vital in the fight against climate change as they soak up carbon dioxide and store it in their trunks, branches and roots.

The scientists said their research would allow the estimation of global carbon stocks.

Novak Djokovic thanks fans as he awaits deportation decision

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has thanked people "around the world" for their support as he awaits a decision on his deportation from Australia.

You can see a lot of high RTP SLOTXO rates on slot machines available on online casino sites.

Djokovic landed this week to play in the Australian Open, having controversially been given an exemption to Australia's vaccination rules.

But he was dramatically denied entry on landing.

Djokovic is currently in immigration detention in Melbourne with a court challenge due on Monday.

In his statement, the men's world number one tennis player thanked people "around the world for your continuous support".

"I can feel it and it is greatly appreciated," he said in a message posted on Instagram.

Djokovic, who has said he is opposed to vaccination, had been granted a medical exemption to play in the tournament for unspecified reasons, in a decision that infuriated many Australians.

More than 90% of the country's adult population are fully vaccinated, but they still face restrictions as cases of infection rise.

Djokovic's exemption was given by two independent medical panels organised by Tennis Australia, the body that runs the event, and Victoria state.

But on Wednesday, Australian Border Force (ABF) officials said the 34-year-old player had "failed to provide appropriate evidence" at Melbourne Airport.

In an interview with Channel 9 on Friday, Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews denied Djokovic is being held captive, adding that the tennis star "is free to leave at anytime that he chooses to do so and Border Force will actually facilitate that".

It is not yet clear how long Djokovic will remain in the immigration detention hotel that has often been criticised by refugees for its poor conditions. Serbia has demanded Australia move him to a nicer hotel.

China says Xi'an COVID-19 outbreak controlled, but other cities face restrictions

COVID-19 cases in the locked-down Chinese city of Xi'an fell to their lowest level in weeks on Wednesday (Jan 5), as officials said that an outbreak there had been largely "brought under control" after two weeks of a stay-at-home order.

If you want to play in the hope of winning a jackpot, สมัครสมาชิก SLOTXO choose to play a game with a cumulative jackpot that, although with a small payout rate, the jackpot will keep rising.

But other urban hubs where clusters have been detected face restrictions including a new partial lockdown in the city of Zhengzhou.

China has stuck to a rigid approach of stamping out COVID-19 cases when they appear with tight border restrictions and targeted lockdowns since the virus first emerged in the country in late 2019.

But the strategy has come under pressure with a series of recent local outbreaks in different parts of the country, and with less than a month to go until the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Although the reported cases in China are very low compared with elsewhere in the world, infections in recent weeks have reached a high not seen in the country since March 2020.

But they showed signs of easing on Wednesday with 91 cases reported - including 35 more in Xi'an, the historic city's lowest tally since mid-December.

Provincial health officials said that they were finally getting the spread of the virus under control and have curbed the rapid rise in cases after a strict lockdown and rounds of mass testing for the city's 13 million inhabitants.

Buying or selling property in 2022? 4 trends to look out for

It is said that the property market is not immune to major cyclical changes, but amid a pandemic, 2021 proved to a record-breaking year for Singapore as homeowners and investors drove a buying frenzy.

Draw ทดลองเล่นสล็อต that friends play and collect as information to find a good timing in betting. I'd say there's definitely a chance of winning to get on.

For much of the year, eyewatering property sales dominated headlines as high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) snapped up lavish homes. Take for example the record-breaking sales of Good Class Bungalows (GCBs), led by a new generation of tech tycoons in the country.

By the end of the year, for the first time since 2018, spikes in housing prices prompted the introduction of a new set of cooling measures, which kicked into place on Dec 16.

For those undeterred by the measures, what will drive the search for property in 2022? As Singapore moves into an endemic stage, will needs and preferences change? Read on to find out what property analysts have to say.

1. LESS DEMAND FOR PENTHOUSES AND GCBs
The demand for GCBs witnessed a boom in 2021, courtesy of a buying spate by some of Singapore's most successful tech CEOs. At the same time, penthouses also gained traction with property buyers, fetching eye-watering prices.

But in 2022, this demand will likely slow down. "The latest cooling measures are likely to moderate demand in the entire private residential market, including GCBs and penthouses. We can expect the volume of transactions of these properties to drop in the short term. If sellers are not under pressure, they may maintain their asking prices or withdraw the property from the market. On the other hand, buyers may not be bullish like in 2021, so their offers are likely to be cautious, which may not meet the price expectations of sellers," said Ong Teck Hui, senior director, research and consultancy at JLL Singapore.

2. SPACE STILL A PRIORITY
As work from home and home-based learning became the default for most of the year, this fuelled demand for bigger, larger houses in 2021. Even though more Singaporeans are now allowed to return to the office as the country adopts an endemic approach to the pandemic, looking towards 2022, property analysts expect this trend to continue.

"As more Singaporeans get accustomed to working remotely or ease into a hybrid work model, the demand for larger homes is likely to stay," said Dr Tan Tee Khoon, country manager at PropertyGuru Singapore.

3. TOWARDS THE SUBURBS
With more Singaporeans getting accustomed to remote work or adopting a hybrid work model, PropertyGuru's Dr Tan expects a softening of demand in properties in the Core Central Region (CCR). Instead, there will be higher demand for properties in the Rest of Central Region (RCR) and Outside Central Region (OCR). This is exemplified in data published in the PropertyGuru Singapore Market Index (PMI) Q4 2021.

"District 17 (Changi Airport, Changi Village) and 27 (Sembawang, Yishun) in the OCR, for example, recorded a 10.40 per cent and 10.23 per cent quarter-on-quarter growth to S$1,718.10 psf and S$1252.61 psf in Q3 2021, respectively," he said.

Oil near one-month high on easing concerns over Omicron variant

Oil gained more ground on Tuesday (Dec 28) with prices trading close to last session's one-month high on expectations that the Omicron coronavirus variant will have only a limited impact on global demand.

Brent crude rose 7 cents, or 0.1 per cent, to US$78.67 a barrel, by 1.15am GMT (9.15am, Singapore time). US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 18 cents, or 0.2 per cent, to US$75.75 a barrel, gaining for a fifth straight session.

Both markets were trading close to Monday's peaks, their highest prices since late November.

England will not get any new COVID-19 restrictions before the end of 2021, British health minister Sajid Javid said on Monday, as the government awaits more evidence on whether the health service can cope with high infection rates.

However, more than 1,300 flights were cancelled by US airlines on Sunday as COVID-19 reduced the number of available crews while several cruise ships had to cancel stops.

Oil prices have risen around 50 per cent this year, supported by recovering demand and supply cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, collectively known as OPEC+.

Investors are awaiting an OPEC+ meeting on Jan 4, at which the alliance will decide whether to go ahead with a planned 400,000 barrels-per-day production increase in February.

India's Modi tells states to beef up health facilities as Omicron cases rise

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (Dec 23) asked chiefs of states to ramp up oxygen supplies and strengthen health infrastructure to contain a possible surge of Omicron cases ahead of the festive season, as gatherings in public spaces and markets grow in size.

When you try to play a game and make a good income, เกมยิงปลา you can try it. Show the structure of the game is chalked up.

India has recorded 236 Omicron coronavirus cases across 16 states over the last 24 hours, the federal health ministry said, more than double from last week.

"PM directed the officials to ensure that the health systems in the states, beginning from the district level, are strengthened to meet any challenge posed by the new variant," the government said in a statement.

"It is important for states to ensure that the oxygen supply equipments are installed and fully functional, he (Modi) instructed the officials," it added.

Ahead of Thursday's Modi meeting and in a second advisory issued this week, the federal government urged states to impose curbs lasting for almost two weeks should there be a risk of an outbreak.

"The Centre has advised States and UTs (union territories) to not let their guard down and maintain their preparedness for fighting COVID19 (and its variants) in view of the new variant Omicron," the government said in a separate statement issued earlier in the day.

While more than half of India's adult population is fully vaccinated, hundreds of millions are still at risk. Doctors warn that if an Omicron-fuelled third wave of infections hits the country, medical facilities could be over-run very quickly.

Pro-Beijing candidates sweep controversial LegCo election

It was the first LegCo election since China made sweeping and controversial changes to the city's electoral system.

Officials argue the changes were needed to ensure stability, but critics say they weakened democracy.

On Monday, Beijing also unveiled a statement outlining "democracy with Hong Kong characteristics".

In a white paper released hours after election results were announced, China said Hong Kong was now entering a new stage of "restored order" as a result of these Beijing-introduced changes.

But a group of Western nations expressed "grave concern over the erosion of democratic elements" in Hong Kong's electoral system.

"Since handover, candidates with diverse political views have contested elections in Hong Kong. Yesterday's election has reversed this trend," the foreign ministers of Australia, Canada and New Zealand, the British foreign secretary and US secretary of state said in a statement. "These changes eliminated any political opposition."

South Africa to donate two million Covid jabs

South Africa is donating around two million Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 jabs to other African countries, it says.

Always look for bonuses SLOTXO and rewards or free spins, because that also means more opportunities.

The government wants to show solidarity with other countries on the continent, President Cyril Ramaphosa said in a statement.

"The only way in which we can prevent Covid-19 transmission and protect economies and societies on our continent, is to successfully immunise a critical mass of the African population with safe and effective vaccines," he continued.

The value of the donation is $18m (£13m), according to the statement, and will be made available to other countries starting from 2022 through the African Medical Suppliers Platform (AMSP), which was launched by the African Union (AU).
